TIMOR LESTE INTERNATIONAL MTB CHALLENGE & ASEAN MTB CUP
Tasitolu, DILI, TIMOR LESTE | 14-15 novembro 2015

A Federacao Ciclismo Timor-Leste realizou, com o apoio do Governo de Timor-Leste, através da Secretaria de Estado da Juventude e do Desporto, o #1 Timor-Leste International Mountain Bike Challenge (TLIMBC), entre 14 e 15 de novembro: XCM (72,4km), XCO e DHI, integrando a última etapa da Asean Cup.
A nível pessoal assim como “embaixadora” de Portugal, foi uma grande honra integrar este evento com o objectivo de promover o desporto em Timor-Leste, particularmente Ciclismo, a paz em Timor-Leste, reforçar as relações com outros países e promover o país como um destino de ciclismo internacional, divulgando, simultaneamente Meda100 UCI WORLD MARATHON SERIES 2016.
O contraste entre Nuvali e Dili manifestou-se imenso. Subitamente, regressei a Shimla… O cinzento, as habitações, o trânsito… As temperaturas elevadas (de dia entre 30 ° C a 35 °C e à noite talvez pelos 20°C) e uma imensa humidade. Assim que saímos do avião tudo isto se fez sentir e o coração acelerou para conseguir respirar.
A Maratona é totalmente digna de ser WMS. Os 72,4km desenrolaram-se num circuito tão diverso quanto desafiante e difícil! A partida massiva fez-se em estrada e a massa de atletas elites masculinos profissionais e experienciados permitiu uma abordagem em pelotão bem ao género da estrada, com puxões e tentativas de fuga. As subidas foram exploradas num vasto leque de altimetria, relevo e dureza: paredes curtas, longas em alcatrão, terra solta, urbanas e montanhosas… E quando estivemos bem alto, contemplando a ilha, só lá a temperatura atmosférica baixou (porque a do corpo essa mantinha-se em altas). Não faltaria um carrossel ou “parte pernas”, também ele caracterizado pela diversidade de relevo e técnica. Quanto às descidas, de igual forma a organização ofereceu aos atletas uma bandeja múltipla: uma longa e muito rápida em asfalto; rápidas e técnicas de gravilha; longa, íngreme e de terra balofa que ao pisar parece rebentar sem sabermos o que esconde! Sem qualquer problema mecânico, controlando o melhor que pude a hidratação (com a ajuda dos feeders voluntários e do Sr. Santos que me levou um bidão), entreguei-me totalmente como o evento e o Mozinho Aventura mereciam, conquistando o 1º lugar Elite.
A prova de XCO é para mim um marco da minha carreira! A prova de que tudo é possível! Abordei a corrida consciente e cautelosa. Tal como com o XCM, a organização esmerou-se na construção do circuito. Os destemidos atletas que se apresentaram para esta C2 teriam de superar pequenas paredes de pedra solta, descidas muito inclinadas de pedra e terra solta, longas subidas da encosta da montanha e rolar dentro da lagoa. A correr com uma distância controlada para a líder da corrida, procurei estabilizar e superar o imenso calor que se fez sentir àquela hora (para tal a zona de abastecimento em duas frentes veio a ser essencial) e, quando a oportunidade surgiu, passei para a frente, puxei de todas as forças e não mais olhei para trás! Consegui! Consegui não só uma importante vitória na última prova a contar para a Asean Cup como um 1º lugar muito especial que dediquei a todas as Filipenses!
Importa saber que Timor-Leste é um pequeno país no Sudeste Asiático, a Capital é Dili, tem uma área de 14.609 km2, uma população de cerca de 1,1 milhões (ONU, 2009), a moeda é dólar, Tétum e Português são as línguas oficiais (Inglês é frequente).
Foi pisar a história! Foi pedalar as pegadas lusas, respirar uma cultura materna que nos liga… E os laços estavam já criados… Das Filipinas com o Justin Price, Peter Pouly e Ken… Depois juntar-se-iam a Vianca, a Anche, o Domingos… O Vítor Rosado e o Cândido Barbosa… Tantos que a organização tão bem representada pelo Nelson, Dircia e Sr. Ângelo fazem hoje parte de mim e do ciclismo nacional…

The East Timor Cycling Federation held with the support of the Timor -Leste Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the # 1 Timor -Leste International Mountain Bike Challenge ( TLIMBC ), between 14 and 15 November: XCM ( 72,4km ), XCO and DHI, integrating the last leg of the Asean Cup .
On a personal level as well as ” ambassador ” of Portugal, it was a great honor to join this event in order to promote sport in East Timor, particularly Cycling, peace in Timor -Leste, strengthen relations with other countries and promote the country as an international cycling destination, disclosing simultaneously Mêda100 Marathon UCI WORLD MARATHON SERIES 2016.
The expressed contrast between Nuvali and Dili his immense. Suddenly I was back in Shimla … The gray, the houses, the traffic … High temperatures (day between 30 ° C to 35 ° C and night perhaps by20 ° C) and a huge humidity. Once off the plane all this was felt and the heart accelerated to breathe.
The Marathon is totally worth WMS. The 72,4km unfolded in a circuit as diverse as challenging and difficult! The massive start in road and the peloton of professional male elite and experienced athletes allowed a road stylish approach, with tugs and escape attempts. The climbs were explored on a wide range of altitude, relief and hardness: short walls, long tar, loose soil, urban and mountainous … and when we were up high, watching the island, only there the atmospheric temperature dropped (because the body one that remained in high). It didn’t miss a carousel or “break legs”, also characterized by the diversity of relief and technique. As for the downhill, the same way the organization has offered athletes a multiple tray: a long and very fast on asphalt; fast and gravel techniques; long, steep and flabby land that seems to bust when we step without knowing what it might hide! Without any mechanical problem, controlling the best I could hydration (with the help of volunteers feeders and Mr.Santos who took me a bottle), I gave myself fully as the event and Mozinho Mtb deserved, winning the 1st place Elite.
The XCO race is for me a milestone in my career! The proof that anything is possible! I discussed the race conscious and cautious. As with the XCM, the organization took pains in the circuit construction. The fearless athletes who came forward to this C2 would have to overcome little walls of loose rock, steep descents of rock and loose soil, long mountain slope of hills and rolling in the pond. I started with a controlled distance for the race leader, sought to stabilize and overcome the immense heat that was felt at that time (for such a supply zone on two fronts became essential) and, when the opportunity arose, I passed to the front, pulled of all forces and did not look back! I did it! I made an important victory in the last race counting for the Asean Cup and a 1st very special place dedicated to all the Philippians!
You should know that East Timor is a small country in Southeast Asia, the Capital is Dili, has an area of 14 609 km2 , a population of about 1.1 million ( UN, 2009) , the currency is dollar, Tetum and Portuguese are the official languages ( English is spoken much ) .
I stepped on history, on the Portuguese historical colony land! I have been riding the Lusitanian tracks, breathed a maternal culture that binds us … and the bonds were ever created … from the Philippines with Justin Price, Peter Pouly and Ken … Then Vianca and Anche, Domingos … Vitor Rosado and Cândido Barbosa would join … so many that the organization so well represented by Nelson, Dircia and Mr. Angelo are now part of me and the national cycling…
